Say toodle-loo to clothes whose origin you’d rather not think about, and get ready for feel-good style that’s kind to the earth, animals, and workers. With these stellar vegan apparel brands, you can rest easy in your ethical fashion choices.
Vegan apparel brands?
If you’ve visited the other brand pages on Kind Valentine – Vegan Handbag Brands and Vegan Shoe Brands – you may be surprised to find a “vegan apparel brands” page. Even though bags and shoes often contain leather, is vegan apparel much different than… regular apparel?
As it turns out, a lot of eco-friendly apparel brands actually do use wool and silk (and leather accents) in some of their clothing. So, for those committed not just to sustainability and worker treatment, but also to animal-free fashion, this page separates out the mostly vegan brands from the fully vegan ones. All brands on this page are 100% vegan, so you don’t have to think twice when you find that sweater you love – no sneaky wool here!
Curious about the standards I use when deciding whether or not to include a brand on this page? Head here for details. In a nutshell, all brands are vegan, sustainable, and ethically made.
A BIG thank you to Double Check Vegan, whose site served as a great resource for building this page.
EVERYDAY APPAREL
Blue District (V)

Eco-Love: Sustainable materials, biodegradable packaging, recycled paper for stationery, production in limited quantities to avoid wastage, OEKO-TEX® certification
The Look: Charmingly hard to nail down in a single sentence; eclectic
In the Blue District, you make the rules. You are your own trend, your own voice, your own vision. Because at the end, we will all coexist together, so why not make your own statement.
A bit more: Blue District is a mission-forward brand that celebrates individuality and clothes that don’t conform to one style. They have a HUGE selection of fun apparel, and perusing their site feels a lot like being in a thrift shop full of the treasures you’d normally have to root through everything to find! And their great prices add to that experience. (Note: their prices seem correlated with the sustainability of materials, so if a piece is especially inexpensive it tends to be made with less sustainable materials, like polyester. It’s worth checking under the “CARE” section of each product to see what it’s made from.) Blue District is GOLD WRAP certified, ensuring ethical, fair working conditions.
Delikate Rayne (V)
Based: USA ||| Cost: $$$ [$35 to $338]
Products: Tops (blouses, tunics, tanks, t-shirts), bottoms (shorts, skirts, leggings), bustiers, dresses
Materials: PU vegan leather, vegan satin, cotton, chiffon, rayon
Eco-Love: Limited quantities produced to reduce waste
The Look: Sleek, edgy, and asymmetric; statement pieces
Innovative animal-free textiles, clean lines, and asymmetrical cuts designed to be seasonless create a harmonious blend of compassion, opulence, and street style – Delikate Rayne is bringing luxury with a purpose into existence.
A bit more: If you’ve been on the hunt for vegan leather clothing, look no further! This luxury vegan clothing brand has it all. Delikate Rayne’s products are made in factories in the U.S.A. that ensure safe working conditions, fair wages, and respect for employees. They are committed to the earth and animals and are working towards being able to donate a percentage of sales to worthy organizations. They have some of the edgiest vegan clothing I’ve come across, including some super spicy vegan leather bustiers in red and metallic for the more daring among us 😉
Note: Delikate Rayne is, relatively speaking, not the MOST sustainable brand (given their use of non-organic cotton and plastic-based fabrics). But they do use PU vegan leather rather than PVC for their clothing, which sets them apart as a much more sustainable option than your typical vegan leather clothing, hence their inclusion here. More on PVC here.

We are redefining transparency and human responsibility by supporting family farms, localized manufacturing, living wages, and Monsanto-free post-consumer ingredients.
A bit more: There is so much to love about this brand. They’ve got a little bit of everything and it’s all eco-friendly and gorgeous. They produce out of California so they can ensure that their standards are upheld, and because this kind of local, traceable production, “maximizes quality, efficiency, and employee pay, and minimizes redundancy, waste and our carbon footprint.” They are an uncompromisingly ethical company and well worth browsing.
LA Relaxed (V)

Our concept of being relaxed is about knowing and accepting who you are and where your unique place is in your world. Being comfortable with yourself, body and mind and soul.
A bit more: LA Relaxed is sure to delight those seeking comfort and unwilling to sacrifice flattering clothing. The brand’s apparel is intentionally designed with comfort in mind, and the majority of their pieces are elegantly flowy and form-flattering. I’d especially recommend browsing LA Relaxed’s sweater section… it’s not easy to find truly cozy vegan sweaters, but these ones fill the cozy bill.
Lights of All (V)
Based: Toronto, Canada ||| Cost: $$$ [$30 to $210]
Products: Tops (blouses, pullovers), dresses (wrap, maxi), skirts, vests, accessories (bags, scarves, scrunchies)

The name Lights of All is a nod to the essence of life that all living things have. From blades of grass, to pigs and humans, LOA represents our dedication to protecting, respecting and igniting those lights.
A bit more: Lights of All (LOA) is one of the most charming, unique brands I’ve come across. And it’s all done by ONE woman, Katia Hagen, who even sews the clothing! The aesthetic of the brand, site, photography, and everything else is just gaw-geous, making it all the more impressive that it’s a one-woman show. LOA is dedicated to diversity and to opposing the damaging and unrealistic ideals of the fashion industry; LOA models are real, beautiful women of different sizes and races. LOA also donates 5% of profits to Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary. The whole brand is a great big breath of fresh air.
MUD Jeans (V)
Based: Laren, the Netherlands || Cost: $$ [€89 to €149 – approx. $106 to $177]
Products: Jeans, shorts, jackets
Materials: Recycled cotton, organic cotton, paper labels, small amounts of elastane & polyester
Eco-Love: Production requiring about 9% of the water that most jeans use, carbon neutral company, jean recycling, no toxic chemicals used in production
The Look: Flattering jeans in a broad range of styles; blue spectrum & black
If you love jeans as much as this planet you’re at a good place here. We aim to change the fashion industry, starting with the most popular piece of clothing: a pair of jeans.
A bit more: If you’re wise to the extreme environmental damage caused by your average jeans, you may wonder what the answer is. Well, I’m happy to say that I have it: MUD Jeans! You really could not ask for much more when it comes to sustainable, ethical, vegan jeans. MUD has a ton of environmental & social certifications, including being a B-Corp, as well as an innovative program through which you can lease jeans for a monthly fee. And they’ve swapped that pesky leather label that most jeans have so they are 100% vegan-friendly. Hallelujah. Note: Shipping to the US is about 44 euros, so this brand may be better if you’re planning to order more that one item from them at a time.
Pact (V)
*Also falls under Loungewear, Sleepwear, & Underwear
Based: Boulder, Colorado || Cost: $$ [$12 to $95]
Products: Tops (t-shirts, camis), bottoms (pants, shorts, skirts, leggings), dresses, hoodies, sweatshirts, sleepwear, underwear, maternity
Materials: Organic cotton
Eco-Love: Sustainable materials
The Look: Cute, colorful basics in highly-wearable cuts
Our clothes are practical, comfortable, and easy because life isn’t always so. If it is a textile that touches the skin, Pact is the one-stop-shop where consumers can find organic alternatives that fit their lifestyle because doing good should be easy.
A bit more: Pact makes a range of colorful, organic cotton clothing in Fair Trade factories. I love the simplicity behind their brand: their mission is to make organic cotton clothing affordable, and to do so through ethical production. And they do just that, with stylish results! Not pictured here, but they also have cute underwear and sleepwear.
Threads 4 Thought (V)
*Also falls under Activewear
Based: California, USA ||| Cost: $$ [$30 to $100]
Products: Tops (tanks, t-shirts, long sleeves), bottoms (shorts, pants, joggers), activewear, accessories (shoes, hats)
Materials: Modal, organic cotton, rayon, recycled nylon, recycled polyester
Eco-Love: Super sustainable materials, sustainable factories where water use is less than half of other factories and 80% of wastewater is reused/recycled
The Look: Solids and neutrals in simple cuts; comfortable and effortless
Every time you purchase a Threads 4 Thought product, you are voting for products that help to improve our planet & move the fashion industry towards a healthier future for all.
A bit more: If you want closet basics that are sustainable, flattering, comfy, and won’t break the bank, Threads for Thought is for you. They run on a model of “continuous improvement” and acknowledge where they have room for certain improvements, but they’re upfront about it and don’t greenwash anything (and are still an impressively ethical band). Love that! *NOTE: Threads 4 Thought does sell some sneakers made by another brand (Veja) that uses leather, but their own products are vegan.
ACTIVEWEAR
Miakoda (V)
*Also falls under Loungewear, Sleepwear, & Underwear
Based: New York City || Cost: $$$ [$60 to $120]

Eco-Love: Super sustainable fabrics, suppliers, factories, and packaging
The Look: Comfy, laid back athletic; mainly blacks, whites, & greys
The main mission behind Miakoda is to create clothing that you can feel comfortable in both physically and mentally!
A bit more: Miakoda (which means “power of the moon”) is a special brand. Described on their website as, “an eco-friendly, sustainable, and ethically made comfy clothing company,” they are just that. They produce locally in New York, and ensure proper working conditions while bringing garment industry jobs back to the US. Miakoda is diverse in its choice of models, creating a feeling of inclusivity and acceptance throughout their site, and their clothes exude comfort and seem highly form flattering!
LOUNGEWEAR, SLEEPWEAR & UNDERWEAR
Boody (V)
*Also falls under Activewear
Based: San Diego, California || Cost: $$ [$9 to $80]
Products: Tops (tank, t-shirts), underwear, bras, socks, activewear, bodysuits, leggings, loungewear, sleepwear
Materials: Organic bamboo (grown without pesticides or fertilizers), spandex
Eco-Love: Super sustainable materials, outstanding environmental certifications like Ecocert, OEKO-TEX, FSC
The Look: Basics in black, white, and neutrals; simple, easy comfort
Revel in the sophisticated simplicity and ethical ethos of Boody’s women’s clothes. Our line of eco-friendly women’s clothing transforms your dreams of affordable, sustainable luxury into an ultra-wearable reality.
A bit more: Boody is a comfort-focused, ethics-forward company that makes a range of luxuriously soft, comfy clothing at affordable prices. And given their over 17,000 reviews averaging 4.7 stars, it seems like they’re doing something really right. Boody uses organic bamboo for their line of basics, and how’s this for a mind-blowing fact (from their site): bamboo can grow up to 3 feet per day. If that’s not a sustainable source for fabrics, I don’t know what is!
Conscious Step (V)
Based: Brooklyn, New York || Cost: $$ [$15 to $45]
Products: Crew socks, ankle socks
Materials: Organic cotton
Eco-Love: Super sustainable materials, donations to a wide array of wonderful organizations including many that are focused on the environment
The Look: Adorable, cause-related designs in a wide range of colors
Ordinary Purchase, Extraordinary Purpose. For every pair of socks purchased, a donation goes directly to a non-profit.
A bit more: Conscious Step is truly the bee’s knees, and may very well send you into a sock-induced case of the swoons. They use organic cotton grown in India, and manufacture there under Fairtrade Certified working conditions. The coolest thing about Conscious Step is their impact: every sock sale supports a specific cause. (They have over 15 causes, like Conserve Rainforests, End Poverty, and Save LGBTQ Lives.) Check out the bottom of their homepage, and you’ll see a summary of the impact they’ve had by partnering with these organizations, including triumphs like protecting almost 440,000 rainforest trees, providing almost 83,000 meals, and funding almost 80,000 days of HIV and AIDS treatment. Does it get any better?
Knickey (V)
Based: New York City || Cost: $ [$13]
Products: Underwear (thongs, bikinis, hipsters, briefs)
Materials: Organic cotton (and 5% elastane for stretch)
Eco-Love: Super sustainable materials, partnership with a NYC non-profit to recycle old undies
The Look: Timeless cuts in neutral colors (with some limited release, more colorful options)
We believe standards are made to be raised. So we skipped the pesticides and petroleum-based fabrics that make up most women’s underwear drawers and went with a natural-born winner. Our undies are made from clean, cool, certified organic cotton—so you and your lady parts can breathe easy.
A bit more: THESE undies. Take it from Knickey’s hundreds and hundreds of rave customer reviews, their underwear is truly all that: super comfortable, soft, flattering, and high quality. Pair that with the company’s ethical labor practices, dedication to sustainability, and lady-parts-friendly materials that are free from toxins and chemicals, and you’ve got the undies of our dreams. AND they’re so reasonably priced at $13 a pair. Thank you, Knickey. We needed you.
MeUndies (V)
Based: Los Angeles, California || Cost: $$ [$18 to $88]
Products: Underwear, bras, socks, loungewear, onesies
Materials: Lenzing MicroModal (made from beechwood trees)
Eco-Love: Sustainable materials
The Look: Any color or pattern your heart desires in a wide array of cuts
We exist to help you feel good. At MeUndies, we’re all about one thing: making the best basics in town so you can feel and be your absolute best.
A bit more: If you’re looking for some super soft undies, MeUndies will fill the bill. My boyfriend got the two of us the MatchMe matching pairs one Christmas (heehee) and I can vouch for the fact that these are dreamy soft. They have a ton of fun patterns to choose from, as well as solids. (PSA: Be sure to look at the reviews for each product… a few items, like their socks, tend to run small.) MeUndies is ethically well-rounded, and is committed to fair wages and working conditions. Many of their factories offer free English classes and resources for women in business and personal finance.
OUTERWEAR
Apparis (V)
*Also falls under Everyday Apparel
Based: New York, New York || Cost: $$$ [$75 to $380]
Products: Coats & jackets, sweaters, bottoms (shorts, skirts), dresses, accessories
Materials: Vegan silk (polyester), faux fur (100% polyester), viscose, polyester, nylon, cotton
Eco-Love: Produce limited quantities to avoid waste, lining of all coats made from recycled polyester. By Fall 2021: plastic-free packaging that’s recyclable, compostable, or biodegradable
The Look: Luscious French luxe, rainbow style
We respect nature as much as you do and are committed to creating the best faux fur out there without harming a single animal. We love the fact that 20 percent fewer animals were exploited for their furs last year. We’re proud to be a part of this real, sustainable change.
A bit more: Apparis is a colorful brand known for its line of eye-catching faux fur plush coats. The brand was founded by two French women of the high fashion world, and those luxe French vibes come through in a BIG way in their clothes. The company works closely with a few small, family-owned factories to ensure that their workers are paid fairly and their environment is safe and clean. Their coats and clothes are Gorgeous (yes, with a capital G).
Note: I’m including Apparis on this page despite their less-sustainable material usage because (1) they’re helping fill a real void in an otherwise animal-reliant category (fur) and (2) they openly knowledge their room for improvement vis a vis sustainabilit, and work towards those improvements. They say, “Far from perfect, we plan to do better.”
Embassy of Bricks and Logs (V)
Based: German || Cost: $$$$ [€80 to €460 – approx. $95 to $540]
Products: Coats, jackets
Materials: E100 No Down (their very own down alternative, made of 100% recycled PET from plastic waste collected from the world’s oceans!), recycled polyester, organic cotton, faux fur (which they call “future fur”)
Eco-Love: Super sustainable materials
The Look: Chic, poofy, and COZY to the nth degree; in black, white, & earthy colors
The goal is to make a great product that wins people over – and then make it as sustainable as possible.
A bit more: Embassy of Bricks and Logs is a fabulous, holistically ethical brand, although they’re humble about it and strive to be ever-better in their practices. Their products are made in China, and they’re committed to ensuring fair working conditions, growing with their small factory partners, and getting those factory partners certified for their fair working conditions. They actually created their own type of vegan down, and even went so far as to replace the typical silica gel “freshness” packs that garments ship with, with a plant-based, non-environmentally-damaging alternative.
Save the Duck (V)
Based: Italy || Cost: $$$ [$95 to $548]
Products: Puffer jackets, stretch jackets, faux fur jackets, vests, rainwear, athleisure
Materials: PLUMTECH® (down alternative), RECYCLED PLUMTECH® (made from recycled materials), polyester, nylon, cotton, PU, viscose
Eco-Love: Recyclable products, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and natural resource use, recycled materials, and so much more (here’s their full 66 page report on their sustainability practices)
The Look: Chic, sharp, classic; high-end outerwear, veganized
Inspired by the “think global, act local” concept, we, as Save The Duck, have taken on the challenge of contributing to solving global problems through our business, by choosing to produce high quality garments without using materials of animal origin and at the same time, committing to develop products that are as sustainable as possible.
A bit more: It’s hard to know what to include about Save the Duck because there’s so much good stuff. They’re a Certified B-Corp (actually, the first Italian fashion brand with that certification), and being animal-free is at the heart and forefront of their brand. I remember being a teenager and desperately wanting a cool (look-wise), warm (temperature-wise) coat, but never being able to find a down-free one. Cue layers on layers on layers instead. Save the Duck is the company I wish I’d known about back then! Super stylish outerwear that’s 100% animal-free & cruelty-free, sustainable, and ethically-made. Dreamy.
STREETWEAR
Plant Faced Clothing (V)
Based: London, England || Cost: $$ [$10 to $71]
Products: Tops (crop tops, t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts), hoodies, sweaters, accessories (hats, bags)
Materials: Organic cotton, recycled polyester, acrylic
Eco-Love: Sustainable fabrics, eco-friendly packaging
The Look: Vegan-forward text and graphics, both subtle and loud
We are the lovechild of fashion, design, art, music, skate, surf, street, tattoo culture, and a plant-based, cruelty-free lifestyle.
A bit more: This brand is so cool. Sustainable fabrics and packaging? Yes. Strict ethical certifications for fair trade and working conditions? Mm hmm. Dare I say, dope-ass designs? You BETCHA. Plant Faced is the full package, and the fact that they view fashion as a vehicle for change and world-betterment is clear throughout their brand. Their designs are vegan-forward, some more radically so than others, so they can accommodate any and all activist expressions. Sign me up for the “Eat Plants” and “Kale ‘Em With Kindness” tees! They also plant a tree with every item purchased and, glory be, they’re a “proudly female-owned” company.
WAWWA (V)
Based: Manchester, England || Cost: $$$ [$34 to $215]
Products: T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, socks, accessories (hats, scarves)
Materials: Organic cotton, recycled PET plastic, acrylic
Eco-Love: Sustainable materials, some factories powered by renewable energy (wind, solar), compostable/plant-based packaging, tree planting (♥)
The Look: Simple, understated designs; mainly neutral solids, with some brighter & patterned options
Our aim is to make clothing that puts the earth and its inhabitants first.
A bit more: WAWWA is so well-roundedly good. Their products are Fairtrade, and they have what they call a “1+1 Collection”… for every item purchased in that line, they give away another of the same to someone in need. WAWWA gives a grassroots feel as a company, and shows charmingly boot-strappy creativity in reaching their sustainability goals. For example, they decided in 2018 to switch to compostable/plant-based packaging, but found it super expensive. So they crowdfunded the capital they needed to invest in it in under a week! Got to love that go-get-em attitude.
SWIM & SURF
DEDICATED. (V)
Based: Sweden || Cost: $$ [$39 to $139]
Products: Tops (t-shirts, sweaters), bottoms (pants, shorts), sweatshirts, dresses, jackets, swimwear, socks, hats
Materials: Organic cotton, recycled polyester, Tencel™ Lyocell (fabric made from wood pulp)
Eco-Love: Highly sustainable materials, eco-minded choice of fabrics for different garments (more info below), tree planted with every email sign up, most factories are partly powered by renewable energy (wind, solar) and/or they reuse & treat wastewater
The Look: Just. So. FUN.
We bring flavor to sustainable fashion. Low impact, high standards. That’s out promise.
A bit more: DEDICATED. is dedicated to a lot of amazing things, including fair working conditions, transparency of production, and thoughtfully-chosen fabrics (ex. they use recycled polyester for their swimwear, hats, and jackets, since those items are washed infrequently and therefore don’t release microplastics to the same extent). DEDICATED. also lists all of their factory partners on their website, including the certifications they have and efforts to improve emissions and conditions even further. And on top of all that goodness, their clothes are stellar – fun and unusual, and many feel as if they’re from another era. I’ve highlighted their louder options in these photos, but they have a wide selection of apparel that includes solids and muted colors as well.
