Once upon a time, the quest for luxury vegan handbags from ethical brands was one filled with despair and discouragement. Oh, how times have changed.

We now have honest-to-goodness options when searching for luxury vegan handbags that are not only animal-free, but also sustainable and ethically made. The nine bags featured in this post are exactly that, and they’re all from 100% vegan brands.

Although I can appreciate a flashy, once-in-a-blue moon bag as much as the next person, the bags in this post were chosen for their usability & versatility. Because if you’re going to invest in a luxury vegan handbag, it’s nice to be able to use it more often than only on the rarest of occasions! More bang for your buck, if you will.

Angelou Mini Bucket [Signet]

Angela Roi (V) || $195

How gorgeous is this bag? Angela Roi knows what they’re doing when it comes to luxury vegan handbags; the effortless elegance you see here is characteristic of all Angela Roi handbags. Reviewers rave about this bag’s quality, spaciousness, and beauty, and one reviewer confirms what can be seen in these photos – “Looks absolutely stunning both as a tote and as a bucket bag.” It also comes in dark brown, brown (which to my eye is more of an autumn-ish burnt orange), eoru (pictured right), and light gray. Chic and versatile in any color, if ya ask me.

Cottontail in White Black

GUNAS (V) || $198

I can’t quite get over the bow on this bag. It’s detachable if want to dress the bag down for a subtler look, or if you want to spice it up you can order additional bows in one of the many other colors they have. And the bag itself comes in various other colors, too: pink, blue, snakeskin (faux, of course), red, orange, grey, and black. Reviewers love the bag, saying that it’s high quality, sturdy, and fetches gobs of compliments. One reviewer said, “This was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.” Another said, “This Bag Helped Me Win Christmas,” from a man who bought it as a gift for his wife, who apparently cried with joy while opening it. Hard to beat that.

Sofia in Sabbia

Miomojo (V) || €97 (approx. $115)

This Miomojo bag is functional, thoughtfully designed, and spacious, measuring in at 19.6 x 7 x 12 inches. It’s got an adjustable shoulder strap, interior zip pocket, and a 15″ interior laptop compartment, perfect for students or the #workingwoman. I love the slightly textured look and go-with-everything camel color. Miomojo also donates 10% of profits to animals.

Mezzo Tote Bag, Confetti BB

Lee Coren (V) || $145

Isn’t this confetti pattern with the glistening speckles gorgeous? So elegant. It’s also a subtle enough pattern to remain versatile; it can be dressed up or down, while still being fun and a little eye-catching. This bag has a magnetic snap closure, a zippered pocket on top, two open pockets, and the top can be cinched (see right picture) for lighter traveling days. All of Lee Coren’s bags have this kind of unique charm, and the confetti pattern is one of her signatures.

Camilla Nude Top Handle

Melie Bianco (V) || $105

Love the vintage vibes and timeless nude color of this one. This bag has a shoulder strap, center divider with a slot pocket and zip pocket and, would you believe it, polka dot lining. And to add to the vibe is that classy, old timey turn-lock closure. This bag makes me want to put on an I Love Lucy-esque swing dress and hit the nearest sock hop.

Wianno Tote in Gold & Black

Jill Milan (V) || $400

Jill Milan brings luxury in a big way, and this tote bag is no exception. Stars like Kerry Washington, Jennifer Lawrence, and Kristen Wiig have carried Jill Milan clutches at red carpet events, and if that that’s not luxe then I don’t know WHAT is. This bag is handmade in Florence, Italy (~swoon~) from Italian vegan leather. It’s a nice size for any and all carrying needs, and has three interior pockets. And despite its somewhat darker color, the material seems to work well no matter the season… it really picks up the sunlight for a summery glow.

Stubby Duffel in Ecru

Hozen (V) || $320

Cylindrical? Check. Chic? Double check. Look at this stubby duffel! I’ve never seen a handbag like it, and I think Hozen pulled off the unique design. The shoulder strap is detachable, so you can use it as a straight “handbag” if desired. The materials that go into this bag are sustainably stellar: grain-based vegan leather, recycled plastic/cotton lining, recycled plastic thread, recycled plastic zipper, recycled cotton label, vegan adhesive. Doesn’t get much better. Hozen is also a fabulous brand, and they donate 10% of profits to Mercy for Animals.

2 in 1 Bag – Black

DENISE ROOBOL (V) || €170 (approx. $200)

With three compartments and room for an 11-14 inch laptop, this bag will keep you organized and looking polished ‘n professional. It’s quite large – about 14″ long and 10″ tall – which makes it perfect as a work bag, but the chic black also lends itself to more formal or more every day use. The nylon strap can be adjusted to create either a shoulder or a crossbody bag, and it also comes in dark grey.

Logo Alter Nappa Faux Leather Crossbody Bag

Stella McCartney (V) || $665

Would this really be a post about luxury vegan handbags without a Stella McCartney appearance? This bag is the priciest on the list at $665, but that’s to be expected of this high fashion brand. This bag is actually a bit smaller than the pictures might suggest, at 7 x 6.7 x 2 inches. Perfect for an evening out, or for those of us who don’t have too many big belongings to lug around daily. How about that snazzy strap?

So, there you have it. A selection of beautiful, luxury vegan handbags in a range of styles and prices, all in colors and cuts that are super versatile and usable.
