An Ode to Vegan Boots: 5 Stunning Styles from 11 Beloved Brands

I looked up “ode” to see whether I had used it correctly in this post title and the answer is, not really. Since this post isn’t in poem form (can you imagine?) it doesn’t count, but insofar as it praises and celebrates vegan boots, it stands. And there’s good reason for the praise and celebration: the vegan boots you’ll find here are the true creme de la creme. They’re made from sustainable materials by ethical brands, and they’ve been vetted for high quality and high reviews.

Not so long ago, those of us seeking boots sans leather were relegated to rubber boots (a good option as long as they’re not the only option) or inexplicably low quality replicas. Among my personal collection was a pair of vegan duck boots that left my socks wet any time a drop of rain or flake of snow grazed their surface. Anyone? But, thanks to innovative materials and brilliant brands, you can now actually find vegan leather boots that are every bit as bomb.com as their conventional leather counterparts.

Two quick shout-outs before we dive into this guide.

1. You’ll notice that Will’s Vegan Store appears under almost every category in this post, and that is because they have an astoundingly wide range of vegan footwear options. So if wide variety from a single brand appeals, be sure to check them out.

2. If you’re looking for a one-stop shop for high quality, sustainable vegan boots from various different ethical brands, check out Immaculate Vegan. That’s not an ad, just an FYI 😉

1. Vegan Ankle Boots

Versatility is what it’s all about when it comes to vegan ankle boots. While so many styles seem to call for a certain occasion or level of formality, ankle boots can be easily dressed up or down, transitioned from day to night, and worn well with anything from jeans and a t-shirt to dresses. Kinda like the sneaker of boots, if you will.

And whether you want vegan ankle boots that are high-heeled, low-heeled, or no-heeled, today’s best and brightest brands have the perfect pair in a range of styles and colors. From faux snakeskin to jewel-encrusted to vegan leather chelsea boots, there’s a pair for every occasion.

They’re crafted from fine Italian vegan leather, and come in a lovely range of different colors, styles, and heights. And as if the aesthetics weren’t enough, reviewers RAVE about their comfort.

VEERAH

VEERAH’s vegan ankle boots are highly glamorous, come with reversible straps, and are loved by reviewers for marrying style and comfort. Here’s a taste of the kind of brand VEERAH is: these boots are the “Hedy Ankle Boot”, named after Hedy Lamarr who was, as VEERAH says on their site, “… silver screen actress, and a pioneering inventor. During her life, she was famously known for her beauty and allure… but her curious and genius mind as the inventor behind many inventions including the technology behind today’s Wifi, GPS, and Bluetooth, is the legacy that makes her a trailblazing warrior.” Can I get an amen!

Few things are more iconic than a pair of knee high boots. They’ve spanned the decades and really just never seem to go out of style. And there are SO many amazing options when it comes to vegan knee high boots! I expected this to be an uncommon style in the world of vegan boots, but on the contrary – you can have your pick between heights (below, at, or above the knee), lush vegan leather or patterned fabrics, simple or embellished designs, and more. Truly a cornucopia.

5. Vegan Hiking Boots

When a woodsy adventure beckons, you don’t want to find yourself ill-prepared in the footwear department. Surely I’m not the only one who has, in the absence of suitable shoes, ended up slipping and sliding and covered in blisters as the result of wearing the wrong shoes on a hike… amirite, ladies?! Thankfully there are plenty of vegan hiking boots to fill the bill.

Quick PSA: It’s not lost on me that some of the options featured below may be, shall we say, ‘fashion forward’ compared to what you might be seeking if you plan to traverse actual mountains, go camping, etc. For more rugged needs, check out REI’s collection of vegan hiking boots, which are the real outdoorsy deal. They’ve also got lots of reviews, which is so helpful in accurately assessing.
