There are so many brands in the world today that it can be overwhelming to parse out which ones are worth your precious time and energy. And dollars! So it can help to add some parameters that give you a sense of the brand and what it’s all about. Cue: brands that plant trees. Not only does it feel good to support planet-positive brands, but it also offers some evidence of their values and general quality.
We all have causes that are nearest and dearest to our hearts, and I hope that since you’re here, tree planting is something that brings a twinkle to your eye and a tingle to your soul. This will be the first in a series, so stay tuned for brands that help animals, support ocean conservation, and more.

The Brands
Arbor Made
Lovely refillable candles
Arbor Made makes refillable candles so you can ditch the waste while still enjoying the ambience and joy of candlelight and glorious smells. They use soy wax, non-toxic fragrances, and organic cotton wicks to bring you a clean, eco-kind burn.
In my mind, Arbor Made solves the age old candle conundrum: (1) you wish you could minimize single use items, and also (2) don’t want to recycle wax-coated glass from an empty candle, but also (3) don’t want to laboriously clean the wax out of a jar in order to recycle it properly. So maybe you either cringe and do it anyone or repurpose it out of guilt even though it’s oddly shaped and clearly an old candle holder and really not very useful. Just me? But with Arbor Made, you’re free and clear.
They also donate 1% of profits to charities that are relevant to each candle scent. So for every purchase of their Palmera Oasis scent, they give to Charity: Water (a wonderful organization that brings clean water to those living without it). ATTITUDE
Clean, sustainable home and beauty products
Whether for your skin or for your home, having clean and sustainable products at a reasonable price point is… kind of the dream. ATTITUDE has something for so many day-to-day moments: laundry detergent, a variety of home cleaners, body wash, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, sunscreen. Their products are all EWG Verified, vegan, cruelty-free, and dermatologically tested.
ATTITUDE has planted more than 1.5 million trees since 2020. 1.5 million! Quite a feat, which they are very humble about. They’re also making great strides with minimizing plastic packaging for their products.
Canussa
Fine vegan leather goods ethically made in Spain
Canussa is a hub of fine vegan leather craftsmanship. Their products – bags, backpacks, laptop sleeves, wallets, and belts – are made for durability. They’re a team made up mostly of women and are a certified B Corp with a higher-than-average rating of 102.4. Take a spin through their site and you will find sleek, functional items that are thoughtfully designed and made to last.
Canussa offsets their carbon emissions through One Tree Planted and to date has planted 4,300 trees.
Conscious Step
Socks that make the world better
Conscious Step makes for some very feel-good shopping for yourself or loved ones. They’ve got an extensive collection of socks that not only have delightful designs, but each also gives to one of seventeen different organizations that corresponds (sometimes loosely) to the socks’ design. They are A+ gifts for your altruistic friends and fam, and are personalizable to the cause closest to their heart. And who doesn’t always need cute socks?

Koa + Roy is a beautiful, woman-owned, up-and-coming brand that really puts their money where their mouth is when it comes to quality and sustainability. They have a low-key baller B Corp score of 122.3, which is one of the highest I’ve seen. Peruse the ingredient label of any of their products and you will find thoughtful, high-grade ingredients through and through.
They’ve got Wellness Cubes for general relaxation and skin softening, Massage Cubes for sore muscles and aches, and Recovery Cubes with extra-strength botanicals to help reduce swelling and pain. An ideal gift for yourself or your health and wellness-minded and/or athletic friend.

Paddywax
Candles in stylish, reusable vessels
Paddywax had a super cool idea: what if we put candles in uniquely cool vessels that you really want to keep once the candle has burned through? And by gosh, that’s just what they did. Why have boring glass jars when you could have a menagerie of textures, shapes, and colors that you’re tempted to start collecting?
Paddywax is part of One Tree Planted (it’s a tad unclear on their site whether they’ve already donated to plant 10,000 or whether they’re on the way) and they give a minimum of $30,000 a year for the conservation and preservation of over 85 million acres of our national parks.

Luxury vegan bags and accessories
Svala’s luxury vegan accessories are handmade in Los Angeles from premium vegan materials like Mirum (a zero-plastic, low carbon, recyclable material made from rubber, plant oils, and cork), pineapple leather, cork, and vegan leather made from biomass (like corn crops).
